Our holiday cottage as inside the grounds of the castle, as should be clear enough from the other pictures. We were also right next to the starting point for the seal boat trips, which were very popular and not to be missed. So there was always someone or some group or other wandering around. We heard Dutch and Itallian and German and Japanese and Swedish (or some one of “those Scandinavian languages”), all the time. Not that we hung around the cottage much anyway. We were usually off somewhere each day.
However, come 5 O’clock in the evening, the tourists were packed off to their buses and cars and we found we had the whole place to ourselves. It gave one a most proprietorial air to be able to wander the grounds at will and meet no one. Just us and the flowers and water. Here are some exampled of what we saw.
