The first few days: Ayr, Glasgow and Skye

Early, Easy Hikes

Lillies abounding

This year my younger niece Eleanor was married, and this was the prime motivator in getting us across the Atlantic. Here are some of the events of our first week in Scotland.

We had a day to spare before the wedding, so we took a try to the costal town of Ayr, which is just 30 miles South West of Glasgow. Being that we were in Scotland we simply had to revisit the Western Isles, or Inner Hebrides once again. So after the wedding day we set out at about 8:30 am and headed ‘the long way’ to Skye. Long in that we went East through Stirling to get onto the fast A9/M9 highway that runs up the East side for Scotland. Even so it took as the best part of 5 hours to get to Skye. The weather en route was mostly cloudy, but the sun broke though by the middle of the afternoon.
