Multiple Image Constructions

Soon after I got my Coolpix I found an article that showed how to make a simple bracket to allow mounting of the said camera in such a way that the nodal point of the lens was right over the pivot point of a tripod. This allows for very accurate registration of multiple shots of the same scene. The idea captivated me, in particular because the Nikon’s 35mm (in ‘old money’) widest field of view was rather limiting for someone like me who is keen on landscapes.

About half of these pictures were shot using the pano mount, but after a while I found that, using Hugin software to carry out the merging, I was able to get pretty descent results with hand held shooting too. Can you tell which were shot with or without the mount?
A Winter Evening at Coney Island

Here are a few shots taken on November 27th 2005. The first couple were in the late afternoon as we walked along the boardwalk. After that we had dinner in a wild Russian restaurant with a glass floor and all kinds of fish swimming under it! Later in the evening we walked towards the Child restaurant building at the end of the boardwalk.
