The Blizzard of 2005, as the silly media people lost no time in describing it, was this past weekend. Jan 22nd, a Saturday started off fine enough, but by Noon the snow has started. Gerry and I took a walk up to Prospect Park, but the weather got steadily worse. In the end we only peeked in at the edge of the Long Meadow before turning back.

Here the blizzard is approaching. The air is filled with snow crystals.

This image, made from three photographs, was taken on a monopod with the h/m pano head. The one below, taken the day after, was a hand held (as were all the others on this page) mosaic of 10 photographs.

The following day the air was clear, the sky deepest blue, and the top meadow packed with people. A 10-shot mosaic. Below are some another pictures from the day after the blizzard we had in January

It was still bitterly cold, but that was no deterrent to those
seeking fun in the snow. We got about a foot all told.
